SMS is an optional event channel
InviteBird helps event hosts send invitations, reminders, event updates, RSVP confirmations, and thank-you notes. Hosts can send invitations by email, share an RSVP link outside InviteBird, or choose SMS for guests who want text updates. SMS consent is not required to use InviteBird or RSVP to an event.
Host adds your phone number
An InviteBird host (a friend, family member, or organizer who has personally collected your number for event communication) adds your phone to their event guest list. Before any event SMS is sent, InviteBird sends one confirmation text asking whether you agree to receive event-related SMS from InviteBird.
You receive ONE confirmation text
The message you receive reads like this (with your host's name, the event, and your invitation link filled in):
InviteBird: Sarah invited you to Sarah & Tom's Wedding! See it & RSVP: https://www.invitebird.com/rsvp/abc123 Want reminders by text? Reply YES - that's just for texts. Please use the link above to RSVP. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
If the host sends without an invitation link, the middle lines simply ask: “Want event updates by text? Reply YES.”
Reply YES to give SMS consent
Replying YES is your opt-in consent to receive event-related SMS from InviteBird for that event. After YES, the system replies back:
You're set to get event text updates! That wasn't your RSVP - please reply on your invitation link. Reply STOP anytime to opt out.
If you do not reply, or if you reply NO, no further messages are sent. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Reply HELP for support information. InviteBird does not send marketing or promotional SMS through this program.
What messages you agree to receive
After you reply YES, InviteBird may send one to five event-related SMS for that event, such as the invitation link, RSVP reminders, host updates, RSVP confirmation, and thank-you messages. Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-in is separate from all agreements
SMS consent is never bundled with InviteBird's Terms of Service or Privacy Policy, and accepting those policies does not opt you into SMS. Guests can RSVP through the web link without receiving SMS, and hosts can use email or share the RSVP link directly.
Opt-in method for reviewers
Opt-in type: Via text message (Reply YES). The guest personally consents by replying YES to InviteBird's one-time confirmation SMS. No web form, account signup, or acceptance of Terms or Privacy Policy constitutes SMS opt-in.
