About this design
The whole of this invitation is drawn in a single royal blue ink on warm cream, in the manner of a pen-and-ink engraving. A laid table fills the lower half: plates stacked with folded napkins, wine glasses and tumblers, a candle in a small holder, and a jar of loose stems in the middle. Botanical sprigs climb both outer edges, a string of little bulbs runs across the top, and the occasion is lettered in a flowing monoline script with long descenders. The milestone line beneath it sits in a classic serif, and every mark on the card is the same weight and the same blue. It suits a birthday dinner more than a party — a milestone marked around a table rather than with balloons. It carries just as well to an anniversary dinner, an engagement supper, a retirement meal or a small seated celebration for someone who would rather have twelve people and a long evening than a crowd. Sending it as a digital birthday dinner invitation brings the practical side with it: guests reply yes, no or maybe from their phones and you watch the responses arrive in real time, with plus-ones and meal choices tracked for you and reminders going out on their own. A shared photo album collects pictures from the evening, and a matching thank-you note is ready afterwards. One practical note for a seated dinner: collect dietary needs on the reply rather than by message later. Numbers and restrictions together are what a caterer or a kitchen actually needs, and asking once at RSVP saves a fortnight of follow-up before you confirm the menu.
