About this design
Everything on this card is drawn with one pen. A martini glass sits at the top rendered in fine engraved hatching, the kind of line work you find on a banknote or an old liqueur label, and beneath it the honoree line runs in English roundhand script with a long swash entry. The milestone itself is set in a fat-face titling serif — enormously heavy stems, hairline serifs, and engraved inline shading cut into each letter — with a filigree swash to either side. Hairline double rules with a small centre fleuron divide the date and the address, and the whole thing sits inside an ornate ruled border with flourished corners. There are two inks: warm cream and matte black. No photograph, no colour, no gradient.
It is built for a thirtieth and it is strongest as a vintage engraved birthday invitation for a cocktail evening — a speakeasy night, a whisky tasting, a black-tie-optional dinner, a milestone party where the invitation should feel like a pressed card rather than a graphic. The same engraved treatment carries a fortieth or a fiftieth just as well, and because the palette is two flat inks it prints as cleanly as it reads on a phone.
Sending it digitally means the reply list keeps itself. Guests answer in one tap, headcounts update as replies land, dietary notes travel with each response, and reminders go out before the night. A shared photo album gathers the evening afterwards, the birthday Essentials suite adds the practical extras, and a matching thank-you card is ready when it is done.
One hosting tip for a cocktail birthday: put the start time and the pour on the invitation together. If drinks run from eight and dinner is not being served, saying so plainly saves every guest the awkward question and saves you from a room of hungry people at ten.
