A co-host is a near-equal partner on your event. Co-hosts can do everything you can, except cancel or delete the event, change co-hosts, pay for upgrades or clear a whole list at once. That keeps the big, irreversible decisions — and the money — with the person who created the event. Here's exactly where the line falls.

What a co-host can do

An accepted co-host runs the event day to day:

  • Edit the invitation and design — the artwork, date, time, venue, the note for your guests, dress code and other details. Co-hosts can edit your page right on it, password-protected events included.
  • Manage the guest list — add, import, edit and remove guests, handle plus-ones, and export the list.
  • Send the invitations — a co-host can send or schedule them, just like you. If payment is due at that point, only you can pay (see below).
  • See RSVPs and activity — every response, headcount and meal choice, and the activity log.
  • Message guests — read and reply to every guest conversation, and send updates to everyone, from Messages.
  • Run the extras — polls, trivia, the photo album, seating, the checklist, the expense tracker and every other module you've turned on, plus the Event Day controls.
  • Set or change the event password — and view and copy it to share with guests.
  • See the receipts — every purchase on the event and its receipt PDF (Settings → Plan & billing → Event receipts, or the foot of Home).

In short, treat a co-host as someone you trust to run the event alongside you.

What only the owner can do

A few things stay with you, the person who created the event:

  • Cancel the event. A co-host who tries is told "Only the event owner can cancel this event."
  • Delete the event. Deleting is owner-only too.
  • Change the co-hosts. Only you add co-hosts or remove them — a co-host's edits never change your co-host list, and a co-host can't take another co-host off the event by uninviting their guest entry; that's yours too.
  • Pay for anything. Upgrades, more room for guests, unlimited nudges and every other purchase are yours to make. Where you'd see a buy button, a co-host sees who can do it instead.
  • Clear a whole list in one go. Only you can clear the whole checklist or start the expense tracker fresh; co-hosts can delete tasks and expenses one at a time.
  • Choose which RSVP emails you get. The "Email me about RSVPs" choice decides what lands in your inbox, so only you can change it. A co-host sees it in Settings → Reminders, read-only.

If a co-host needs one of these done, they'll need to ask you.

Co-hosts and money

Money stays with you, the owner:

  • Buying is owner-only. A co-host can't check out on your event. If payment is due when they send, they're told "Only the event owner can pay to send. Ask them to finish this step."
  • Auto-upgrade is yours to arm. Only you can turn on the "never pause my RSVPs" auto-upgrade. Once it's on, it charges your saved card whenever the guest list outgrows the plan — and that includes guests a co-host adds.
  • Gift money handles are watched. A co-host can update the Venmo, PayPal, Cash App or Zelle handle guests use for gifts. If they change one, you get a notification and the activity log records it.
  • Your card stays private. Co-hosts never see your card details.

Leaving

A co-host can step down at any time: in the event's Co-hosts list, they choose Leave on their own row. Their access ends, you get a notification, and they stay on your guest list.

How a co-host sees the event

A co-host reaches the event from their own dashboard, under Events you help run — kept separate from any events they own themselves. They only ever see the specific events you've invited them to, never your wider account.

Common questions

Can a co-host change the design after I've perfected it? Yes — co-hosts have full editing access. If you want a design frozen, agree on that together, since there's no "view-only" co-host level.

Can a co-host remove me or take over the event? No. Co-hosts can't cancel or delete the event and can't change the co-hosts, so they can't remove you or add others. Ownership stays with you.

What happens when I remove a co-host? Their access ends right away — the desk, the guest conversations and the emails about new guest messages. They get an email and a notification, and they stay on your guest list.

Will a co-host get notified when things happen on the event? Co-hosts share the event's guest conversations and see all activity on the desk. If you cancel the event, accepted co-hosts get a notification.

Is there a way to give someone limited, view-only access? Not currently — co-host is a single, full-trust role (minus the owner-only actions above). If you only want someone to see RSVPs, sharing an export may suit better than adding them as a co-host.
