You own your data on InviteBird, and you're in control of it. You can get a complete copy of everything your account holds, or permanently delete your account and everything in it. This article walks through both, plus how cookies work and what to do when a guest asks about their information.

What InviteBird holds for you

Your account keeps the things you'd expect a host to have: your profile (name and email), the events you've created, your guest lists and their RSVPs, any photos shared to your albums, your host–guest messages, and your receipts and order history. Guests give their details to you by responding — InviteBird stores them so you can plan, and removes them when you remove the guest, the event, or your account.

Exporting a copy of your data

InviteBird can provide a complete export of your account data as a single file (in JSON format). It includes your profile, every event's details and settings, your guests and their RSVPs (including any party-game answers), the details of shared photos, your conversations and messages, your waitlist and feedback, your saved contacts, and your subscription and purchase history.

A couple of things are deliberately left out for good reasons: the actual photo image files aren't included (only their details, like captions and who added them), the heavy design files behind your invitations aren't included, and any event password is never included — secrets don't travel in an export.

To request your export, email us at support@invitebird.com from your account address and we'll get it to you.

Deleting your account

If you want to close your account entirely, go to Profile and open the Danger zone, then choose to delete your account. You'll type the word DELETE to confirm, and that's the safeguard — so read this first, because it happens immediately and can't be undone:

  • All of your events are permanently deleted. There is no trash, no grace period, and no way to restore them afterward.
  • Because your events go, so does everything attached to them — your guests' RSVPs and responses, the photos shared to your albums, and your host–guest messages.
  • Your saved contacts and your subscription and purchase history are removed too.
  • You're signed out, and the account is gone.

If you host with others, note that deleting your account only removes events you own. Events where you're a co-host belong to their owner and aren't affected.

Admin or staff accounts can't be closed from this screen — if that applies to you, contact support@invitebird.com instead.

If you only want to remove a single event rather than your whole account, see Canceling or deleting an event — that's usually what you want.

Cookies

InviteBird keeps cookies to a minimum. There's one simple choice: accept or decline optional analytics that help us understand how the site is used. There are no advertising cookies, and InviteBird doesn't sell your data. A few essential cookies always run — they keep you signed in and remember when a guest has unlocked a password-protected invitation — and those can't be switched off, because the site needs them to work.

You'll see the accept/decline banner on your first visit. Your choice is remembered on that device. To change it later, clear your browser's cookies or site data for InviteBird, and the banner will appear again on your next visit so you can choose afresh. Full details live in our Cookie Policy.

When a guest asks about their data

Guests don't need accounts, so their privacy controls are built into the messages they receive:

  • Email: every InviteBird email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click stops future emails to that address — no login needed.
  • Text messages: a guest can reply STOP to any text to opt out of further texts.
  • Removing a guest entirely: if a guest asks you to take them off your list, you can delete them from your Guests tab, which removes their entry and response. See Removing guests.

If a guest wants to reach us directly about their information, they can email support@invitebird.com.

Common questions

Is deleting my account reversible? No. It's immediate and permanent — there's no undo and no recovery window. If you're unsure, export your data first, or just delete the one event you're worried about instead.

Will deleting my account refund anything I've paid? Deleting your account is separate from billing. For anything payment-related, see Payments, receipts, and refunds before you delete, since your receipts go with the account.

What's the difference between deleting my account and deleting an event? Deleting your account removes everything — all your events and your login. Deleting an event removes just that one event. Most people want the latter; see Canceling or deleting an event.

Does InviteBird sell my data or my guests' data? No. There are no advertising cookies and no data selling. Analytics are optional and you can decline them.

A guest asked to be forgotten — what do I do? Remove them from your Guests tab (that clears their entry and response), and let them know they can unsubscribe from emails via any email's footer link or reply STOP to texts. For anything more, point them to support@invitebird.com.
