The kiosk by the door is lovely — but there's one of it, and a room full of guests. That's why Event Day has a phone companion: a pocket version of the welcome desk that every guest can open on their own phone by scanning a QR code. Everything useful travels with them to their seat.
How guests get there
Guests reach the companion page by scanning:
- The QR band on the kiosk — it's on every kiosk view (a corner badge on the photo wall), and tapping it on the kiosk enlarges it for easy scanning across a queue.
- The printed Event door sign — a big welcome QR you can print from your event's printables once Event Day has been opened. Tape it to the door and guests don't even need to reach the tablet.
No app, no account, no password: the QR carries a private guest link, and the page opens straight in the phone's browser. It is not the kiosk's own link — a guest link can look things up and check its holder in, but it can't add walk-ins or undo anyone's check-in. As with the kiosk, it works only for a live event — never a draft or a canceled one.
What's on the page
The companion page mirrors the kiosk, built from the same switched-on, filled-in modules — so guests see only what's real for your event:
- I'm here — the same check-in as the kiosk: type a name, tap once for the whole party, see "You're checked in" and, once you've released tables, their table.
- Find my seat — a name lookup that points guests to their table, once you've released tables.
- Their door pass — if you've switched on door passes, the pass link in a guest's confirmation email opens this same page with their pass on it, showing their table and where their party sits.
- Tonight's menu — every dish with its dietary labels.
- What's happening — your timeline, with the current moment easy to spot.
- Photo drop — add photos to the shared album straight from the phone's camera roll.
- Live poll and trivia — vote and play from their seat.
- The big-screen quiz — when you start a round, the page opens the game by itself; guests pick a nickname and play along with the big screen.
- What to bring — the wish-list items and how covered each one is.
- Winners and reveals — the drawing's winner, the guessing-game scoreboard, Who knows them best's answers and leaderboard, and the jar's result once you reveal it. Read-only: guests can admire, never draw.
- A voice note and your FAQ — your recorded hello, and the little questions answered.
- Announcements — your notes to the room, newest first, refreshing on its own about every half a minute.
How it differs from the kiosk
The two are siblings with different jobs:
- The kiosk is your hardware, locked with a passcode so guests stay inside it. It's the big screen the room looks at.
- The companion page is the guest's own phone — no lock, no containment, nothing to hand back. Host-only actions simply aren't there: revealing answers, drawing winners, and starting rounds are yours, run from your Event Day tab or from the kiosk behind your passcode.
Anything a guest does on the page — checking in, a vote, a song idea, a photo — lands in exactly the same place as a kiosk tap, so you never juggle two sets of results.
The moments reach the phones too
A reveal isn't just a kiosk thing. When you reveal the trivia answers, put up the predictions scoreboard, or draw the raffle, the companion page lights up with the same moment within seconds — the same raffle wheel, spinning to the same winner, in every hand in the room. A guest who opens their phone late sees the settled result rather than a fresh spin of their own. See Live moments on the big screen.
Common questions
Do guests need to install anything? No. The page opens in the phone's browser from the QR. There's no app and no sign-in.
Can someone who isn't at the party open it? Only someone with the link — it contains a long secret and isn't published anywhere. It's made for the room: the QR lives on your kiosk and door sign, so in practice it reaches the guests standing in front of them. If a photo of your door sign ends up somewhere it shouldn't, use Reset kiosk link in Setup: the old link stops working straight away, and you print the new sign from Downloads.
What if a guest has only their invitation link? The companion page opens from the kiosk QR, the door sign, or the door-pass link in their confirmation email. A guest who replied and opens the page any other way sees a short "See you on the day" note saying where the link comes from.
Can guests see other guests' details? No. Like the kiosk, the companion page never shows email addresses or phone numbers, and the bring-list shows items without claimer names.
Why does a section not appear for my guests? Sections mirror your modules. Anything switched off or empty is simply absent — add content and it appears.
Does it replace the kiosk? They're best together: the kiosk anchors the door and the big-screen moments; the companion page puts the same desk in every pocket. If you had to pick one screen for a small gathering, the companion page alone still gives guests check-in, the menu, the plan, and the games.
