Invitations don't have to be still. In the editor you can put gentle motion or a video behind your card, add a soundtrack, and — with premium designs — give guests a richer reveal when they open it.

Backdrops: the space around your card

Open the Background tool in the editor to set the backdrop — what guests see around and behind your card. You have four mutually exclusive options; picking one replaces the last:

  • Backdrop color — a solid wash behind the card.
  • Patterns & textures — a printed-paper feel behind the card.
  • Moving backdrops — gentle animation that plays behind the card.
  • Video backdrops — full-motion video behind the card.

Browse by folder, tap a tile to apply it, and use Remove × to clear a moving or video backdrop and fall back to a color. Because only one backdrop is active at a time, choosing a video automatically turns off a moving backdrop, and vice versa. There's a Revert to template background option to return to the look the design shipped with.

Add music

Use the Audio tool to give your invitation a soundtrack. When a track is set, it plays as guests open the invitation, adding to the moment. You can change or remove it any time before — or after — you send.

What "premium" designs add

Some designs are built to feel like an event in themselves. Beyond the backdrops and music you control, premium designs can include:

  • Richer motion baked into the card and scene.
  • A short reveal that plays before the envelope when a guest first opens the invitation — a brief animated moment, shown once per guest.

The reveal and scene come with the design itself; you don't assemble them piece by piece. Personalizing the card (by hand or with AI redesign) keeps that premium presentation intact.

Check it before you send

Motion, video, and music all play in the Review step's live preview, exactly as guests will experience them. Give it a look — and a listen — before sending. See Preview your invitation.

Common questions

How do I add a moving or video background? Open the Background tool, choose Moving backdrops or Video backdrops, and tap a tile. Use Remove × to clear it.

Why did my animated background disappear when I picked a video? Only one backdrop can be active at a time, so choosing a video (or a solid color, or a texture) replaces the moving backdrop. Pick the one you want last.

Can I add music? Yes — the Audio tool sets a soundtrack that plays as guests open the invitation.

What makes a design "premium"? Premium designs come with richer built-in motion and, on some, a short reveal that plays when guests first open the card. Those touches ship with the design rather than being assembled by you.

Will the motion and music work on my guests' phones? Yes — the invitation is built to play on phones. Sound may wait for a guest's first tap, since browsers often hold audio until then. Preview it on the Review step to see how it behaves.
