Your invitation opens like a real one: guests first see a closed envelope, then tap it to reveal your card. You can style that envelope — its color, its lining, and the little message on the front — in the editor.
What your guests experience
When a guest opens your invitation link, they see a closed envelope in your chosen shell color, with a short message on it (by default, "You're Invited") and a "Tap to open" prompt. Tapping opens the envelope, revealing the liner and then your card, details, and RSVP. Some premium designs play a brief reveal animation before the envelope appears — a nice flourish, shown once. See Animated and premium designs.
Styling the envelope in the editor
Open the Style tool in the editor — labeled Envelope Style, "the envelope guests open." It has a few parts:
- Quick Presets — one-tap looks like Rose Gold, Garden, Confetti, and Marble that set the shell and liner together.
- Outer Shell — the envelope's outside color (Rose, Sage, Lavender, Peach, Dusty Blue, and more).
- Inner Liner — the inside of the flap, as either a color (Sapphire, Burgundy, Forest, Charcoal, Plum) or a pattern you can browse by folder, with an opacity slider to soften it.
- Message on Card — the headline and subtext shown on the closed envelope. Use Use Card Title to match your event title, or Clear Subtext to keep it simple.
Every design ships with an envelope its creator chose, so you can send without touching a thing. If you experiment and want the original back, tap Revert to template envelope to restore the shell, liner, and message in one step.
Seeing it before you send
The envelope isn't just a preview trick — it's exactly what guests get. Check it on the Review step, which plays the closed envelope and the reveal just as a guest will experience them. See Preview your invitation.
Common questions
What do guests see first when they open my link? A closed envelope in your shell color, with a short message and a "Tap to open" prompt. Tapping reveals the liner and your card.
How do I change the envelope color or message? Open the Style (Envelope Style) tool. Set the Outer Shell color, the Inner Liner, and the Message on Card (headline and subtext). Presets change several at once.
What's the liner? It's the inside of the envelope flap that shows as it opens — a color or a pattern you pick. Lowering a pattern's opacity lets the liner color show through.
Will my guests know to tap? Yes — the closed envelope shows a clear "Tap to open" prompt.
I changed the envelope and want the original back. Tap Revert to template envelope in the Style tool to restore the shell, liner, and message to the design's original.
Does the envelope message change the card itself? No — the headline and subtext live on the closed envelope. Your card's wording is edited on the Design step (see Customize your invitation).
