Once you've opened a design, personalizing it is quick. You'll make the card your own, fill in the details your guests need, and preview the whole thing before you send. Everything saves as you go.

Make the card your own

The editor opens on the Design step. How you edit depends on the design:

  • Guided (AI) designs show an Edit button. Tap it, answer a few short questions about your event, optionally add photos and a vibe, and the card is rebuilt around you. See Redesign your card with AI.
  • Classic designs let you edit right on the card — tap any text to reword it, and use the Text, Image, Background, and Style tools. You can upload your own photos, too.

Either way, the words on the card should end up being yours. If a guided card still shows our sample names, you'll be asked to personalize it before the next step opens. For the full tour of the editor — autosave, undo, reset, and restoring an earlier version — see The invitation editor.

Fill in the Details step

Next is Details, where you enter what guests need. InviteBird takes a first pass by reading your card, and you adjust anything that isn't right:

  • Who's hosting and an event title (both required).
  • Date and time (both required; the date must be in the future).
  • A note for your guests (required) — a warm line or two in your own words. Tap Rewrite if you'd like one drafted.
  • Optional extras: who's being celebrated, a tagline, a reply-by date, the venue, a parking note, and a dress code.

Prefilled fields show a small "Looks right?" chip — confirm each one (or edit it) so you know our first pass got it right. The deep dives are The details step, Dates, times, and venue, and The guest note and dress code.

Decide on extra guests

Still on Details, choose whether guests may bring extra guests — and if so, how many each may bring. You have to answer this, because it decides whether plus-ones appear on the RSVP form. See Plus-ones and extra guests.

Preview, then send

Your changes save automatically to your private draft. The Review step shows the finished invitation exactly as a guest will open it — envelope, card, details, and all — so you can catch anything before it goes out (see Preview your invitation). From there you add guests and send (see Add guests and Send your invitations).

What your guests will see

Guests see the finished card and the details you enter — the date, time, location, your note, dress code, and whether they can bring a guest. Anything you leave blank simply won't appear.

Limits and important details

  • To move past Details you need: who's hosting, an event title, a future date, a time, your note for guests, and an answer to the extra-guests question — plus any prefilled "Looks right?" chips confirmed.
  • Everything saves automatically to your private draft, which waits under Drafts on your dashboard.
  • You can keep editing right up until you send, and you can still edit after sending (see Editing after you've sent).

Common questions

Which fields do I have to fill in? Who's hosting, the event title, a future date, a time, and your note for guests — and you must answer whether guests can bring extra guests. Everything else is optional.

Do I have to write the guest note myself? No — tap Rewrite on the Details step to have one drafted, then tweak it. It just can't be left empty.

Do my changes save automatically? Yes, to your private draft. You can also save manually with Ctrl/Cmd + S. Unsent invitations wait under Drafts on your dashboard.

Can I start over on the design? Yes — Reset returns the card to the template's original, and Restore an earlier version steps back to a version you had before. Neither touches your guests or RSVPs.

Can I change things after I send? Yes. Reopen the invitation to edit the card or details; if the date, time, or venue change, message your guests so they know.
