The Details step is where you fill in the facts your guests need to show up: who's hosting, what the event is, when and where it happens, a warm note, and whether guests can bring anyone extra. It sits right after Design in the editor.
We take a first pass for you
When you open Details, InviteBird reads your card and fills in what it can — the title, names, date, time, and venue it can find. It's only a starting point: every field is yours to change, and nothing is final until you send. Prefilled fields get a small "Looks right?" chip so you can confirm them at a glance (more on that below).
The occasion
- Who's being celebrated? (optional) — the guest of honor, for example "Emily" or "Sara & Tom."
- Who's hosting? (required) — your name, family name, or company. This is the sender guests see the invitation coming from.
- Event title (required) — the headline, like "Sara & Tom's wedding."
- Tagline (optional) — a short line shown under the title.
When & where
- Date (required) — must be in the future; past dates are blocked.
- Time (required).
- Ask guests to reply by (optional) — shown to guests as the RSVP deadline. It can't fall after the event date.
- Location (optional) — a venue name or address, with suggestions as you type.
- Parking & getting there (optional) — a quick tip on how guests arrive.
The full walkthrough lives in Dates, times, and venue.
A note for your guests
- Your message (required) — a warm few words guests read under your card. This is now a must-fill: an invitation with no word from the host reads bare. You can write it yourself, or use Rewrite to have InviteBird draft one — as long as the box isn't empty, you're set.
- Dress code (optional) — with quick chips for Casual, Formal, and a suggestion tailored to your event.
See The guest note and dress code for more.
Can guests bring extra guests?
Choose No (just the guests you invite) or Yes. Pick Yes and a stepper appears so you can set how many extra guests each guest may bring, up to ten. You have to answer this question — it decides whether plus-ones show up on the RSVP form. See Plus-ones and extra guests.
What has to be filled in to continue
Before the step lets you move on, you need:
- Who's hosting and an event title,
- a future date and a time,
- your note for guests, and
- an answer to the extra-guests question.
On top of that, any prefilled optional field still showing a "Looks right?" chip needs a tap to confirm — that's your check that our first pass got it right. If something's missing, an amber banner names it and jumps you to the field. Everything saves as you type, and single-line fields accept Enter to continue.
Common questions
Which fields are actually required? Who's hosting, the event title, a future date, a time, and your note for guests — plus answering whether guests can bring extra guests. Everything else is optional.
Why won't the step let me continue? Either a required field is empty (the banner names it), the date is in the past, or a prefilled field still shows an unconfirmed "Looks right?" chip. Tap the banner's fix link to jump straight to it.
What are the "Looks right?" chips? They mark fields we prefilled from your card. Tapping one confirms the value is correct. Editing the field yourself counts as confirming it, too.
Do I have to write the guest note myself? No — you can tap Rewrite to have one drafted, then tweak it. It just can't be left empty.
Can the event date be today? Today is fine; earlier dates are not. If you pick a past date you'll be asked to choose a future one.
Can I change these details after I send? Yes. Reopen the invitation and edit — see Editing after you've sent. If the date, time, or venue change, message your guests so they know.
