You can buy an InviteBird gift card for someone else, and you can apply a gift card, coupon, or referral code toward your own purchases at checkout. This article covers both sides — buying and redeeming.
Buying a gift card
Gift cards live on the Gift cards page ("Give an event"). To buy one:
- Choose a value — a preset amount ($25, $50, $100, or $200) or any custom amount from $10 to $1,000.
- Address it, or don't. Add a recipient's name and email and an optional note, and we'll send them a branded gift card. For a US or Canada number you can send it by text instead. Leave the recipient blank and the code is emailed to you to pass on yourself whenever you like.
- Sign in and pay. Buying a gift card takes a free account so we can email your receipt and the code, then you pay through secure checkout.
When the payment clears, InviteBird emails the code — to your recipient if you addressed it, or to you if you didn't — and you get a receipt either way. If you're signed in, the Gift cards page also shows a "Cards you've bought" list with each code and its remaining balance.
What gift cards do
- They never expire. Once bought, the balance stays on the card until it's spent. There's no expiry date and no dormancy fee.
- The balance carries over. If a purchase costs less than the card's balance, the remainder stays on the same card for next time, as many times as it takes to use it up.
- They work on any InviteBird event. The recipient redeems the card at checkout on any event — theirs or a gift toward someone else's.
Redeeming a gift card or code at checkout
When you pay for an event or an upgrade, select Have a gift card or code?, enter your code, and choose Apply. The same field accepts both gift cards and coupon or referral codes. As you apply codes you'll see a short breakdown — the list price, each discount, and either You pay today or Covered — nothing to pay when a gift card covers the whole thing.
You can apply a coupon and a gift card together. The coupon comes off the list price first, then the gift card covers the discounted remainder. If a gift card would leave less than fifty cents to charge, we leave that last bit on your card rather than run an unchargeably small payment — so nothing is ever wasted.
The applied codes ride along to the same secure checkout used for the purchase. The amount is always recomputed on our side, so the preview you see and the amount you're charged never drift apart.
Referral codes
When a friend invites you with their referral link or code, you get 10% off your first event. Enter it in the same Have a gift card or code? field at checkout. The discount can be used once per new customer and applies only to a first event purchase. For how to share your own code and earn, see Referral program.
Gift cards vs. gifts to a host
An InviteBird gift card is credit toward InviteBird purchases. It's different from a gift to a host, which goes from the guest straight to the host's own payment app or registry — InviteBird never handles it. This article is about gift cards and discount codes — for gifts guests send hosts, see Gifts & Funds for hosts.
Common questions
How much can a gift card be worth? From $10 up to $1,000, in any amount. Four quick presets — $25, $50, $100, and $200 — are one tap, or type your own.
My gift card code isn't working. Check that you've typed it exactly as it appears in the email, with no extra spaces. A card with a zero balance (already fully spent) won't apply. If it still won't take, contact us and we'll look it up.
Can I use a coupon and a gift card on the same order? Yes. The coupon is applied first, then the gift card covers what's left. You'll see both on the breakdown before you pay.
Does buying a gift card require an account? Yes — a free one, so we can email your receipt and the code. The person who redeems it also uses a free account to pay.
Can I get a refund on a gift card? A completely unredeemed gift card can be refunded to the purchaser within 14 days of purchase. Once any of the balance has been used, the card is non-refundable — the remaining balance stays yours and never expires. See Payments, receipts, and refunds and our gift card terms.
Where does the leftover balance go? It stays on the same card. Redeem it again on your next purchase — the balance draws down until it's used up.
